
The Izmail picture gallery collection has been assembled with the help of funds from the Ministry of Culture. The collection itself has been donated by the Union of Painters of Ukraine and Russia, Odessa Art Museum, the State Tretyakov Gallery, the Russian Museum in St. Petersburg, the State Hermitage as well as from private collections. Using principles of “Museum pedagogics”, the employees of the gallery conduct non-traditional forms of work with children of preschool and junior school age: lessons of aesthetics, children clubs “In the world of beauty”, literary-musical hall “Vernisage”, festivals, competitions, literary-poetic club. Lessons of history of culture and art are being given to students of the 8-10 forms.
The Odessa regional state administration has given the gallery the rank of Regional Centre of Aesthetic Education.

Izmail picture gallery unites the intellectual potential of the city as well as the whole Lower Danube region to cultivate spirituality, national self-consciousness and patriotism of multinational independent Ukraine, using the best examples of national customs and traditions.
Within its 30 years’ history more than 2 mln. visitors has come to the gallery. More than 15 thousand excursions have been conducted, as well as 600 artistic exhibitions from the leading museums of Ukraine, Russia, Moldova, Romania, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Armenia, France and Holland.
